Comments

This event will be held in the Doll & Hill Teaching Room 2131 in the Taylor Avenue Building (600 S. Taylor). No RSVP needed; open to all. Learn more about this seminar series at http://bit.ly/1ndWFpZ. Event co-sponsors include: the Institute for Public Health, the Department of Anesthesiology, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Department of Medicine. More information: Breast cancer in young women is poorly understood and associated with a worse prognosis. Dr. Velie examine racial disparities in breast cancer subtypes both in recent national data and in the Young Women’s Health History Study (YWHHS). She will also present preliminary findings from YWHHS evaluating associations of age at menarche and pregnancy-related factors with incidence of breast cancer subtypes. YWHHS is a large, population-based case-control study of incident invasive breast cancer cases diagnosed from 2010 to 2015 among women < 50 years. Results will provide insight into risk factors for breast cancer subtypes, as well as shed light on racial disparities in incidence among young women.
