About DPA

Founded May 2007, the Diversity Postdoctoral Association (DPA) seeks to enrich the postdoctoral experience of the Postdoctoral Research Scholars & Associates from backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical sciences at Washington University. The group was founded by Matthew Ndonwi (former postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Internal Medicine/Hematology) and Carmen Curtis (former postdoctoral research scholar in the Department of Psychiatry). In addition to serving as a support group for its members, DPA goals now include assisting with acclimating incoming postdoctoral scholars/associates and facilitating the location of new postdoctoral openings for prospective postdocs, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. The DPA receives financial and program support from the Office of Post Graduate Affairs and the DBBS Office of Diversity Programs and Community Outreach at Washington University.
