Grants Management Services

DBBS provides assistance with grant applications for students. Contact the DBBS Senior Grant Specialist as soon as a decision is made to submit an application. For Individual Student application/continuations, contact should be made at least two months in advance of the due date. Three months advance contact is needed for Institutional Grant or other award application/renewals in order to allow adequate time to meet all internal and external requirements.

Division students are very successful in obtaining nationally competitive fellowships. Award recipients who obtain competitive external funding may be eligible for a merit award. See below for more information about the merit award.

  • Any PhD or MSTP student who obtains competitive external funding awarding at least $20,000 annually in stipend will receive the base DBBS stipend plus a $5,000 merit award per year for the duration of the fellowship as long as they remain in good academic standing.
  • If the agency award is more than the $5,000 above the DBBS base stipend, the student will receive the agency award only, no merit award will be offered. At the end of the fellowship the student will return to the current DBBS stipend at that time.
