Research/Primary Professional Activity:
Research in my lab relies on molecular data (DNA sequences, microsatellites and AFLPs) to study the architecture of genetic variation in freshwater taxa. Studies of natural population are done in an ecological context, and have laboratory and field components. Studies of experimental populations involve the collection and analysis of phenotypic and genotypic data. Key research programs include:

1) Phylogeography and population genetics of Amazonian aquatic vertebrates
2) Use of molecular data in conservation and management of Amazonian vertebrates
3) Phylogenetics, biogeography and systematics of cyprinodontiform killifishes
4) Quantitative genetic basis complex phenotypes
5) Molecular genetic basis of complex life history traits

I am willing to talk with students and recent graduates about employment opportunities.
