The Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS) is organized into twelve academic programs, each representing a different scientific area. Students receive current guidelines for these programs upon matriculation, and periodic updates as changes occur. These guidelines provide students with policies, procedures, and requirements specific to the academic program in which they are enrolled.

Within the 12 interdisciplinary Programs are a number of areas of special concentration - for example, a Special Emphasis Pathway in Human Pathobiology Interface - students are encouraged to investigate with the aid of their advisers.
