Research Abstract:
The objective of the Ances laboratory is to: 1) characterize HIV associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) using blood oxygen level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD fMRI); 2) assess the impact of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) on BOLD fMRI. This work will delineate associations between cBOLD fMRI and surrogate cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) markers of inflammation and neuronal/glial injury. The ultimate goal is to create a non-invasive neuroimaging tool for early detection and treatment of HAND.
