Science in the Park 2014

On July 11th, the BioMedRAP, Leadership Alliance, and Amgen Scholars organized the first (and hopefully annual) Science in the Park event, a community service project held in Huldin Park. During this service project, the Scholars created 15 science demonstrations, including Non-Newtonian Fluids, Stroop Test, Pin-the-organ-on-the-human, and the ever-popular, Rock Salt Ice Cream demo. The DBBS Scholars worked closely with high school students from the Young Scientist Program (YSP) to put on the event and bring the science to a level that younger students could easily understand. The event brought nearly 40 K-12 students from the surrounding St. Louis area, each of whom left the event with a better understanding of the science around them.
