Research summary
Regulation of transposable elements in cancer
My current project aim to understand the regulation of transposable elements in cancer under p53. Previous studies have illustrated the correlation between the presence of p53 mutation and increased expression of transposable elements. However, there is a lack of systematic characterization for such phenomenon across all repeat elements and a lack of detailed understanding of the specific mechanism underlying such correlation. My project hopes to charactize this correlation in a genomic and epigenomic perspective. I also hope to unveil some elements involved in this regulatory pathway.
