Research summary
Hematopoietic stem cell responses and changes in differentiation due to inflammation and stress
One mechanism by which hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) resist inflammatory stress is through upregulation of the tetraspanin family member CD53. My project is focused on examining how expression of CD53 influences HSCs which lack the epigenetic modifiers DNMT3a or Tet2 (a common occurrence in several malignancies of the blood).
