Research summary
Utilization of pseudovirus systems for quantifying antibody breadth against viral drift and shift.
I utilize a HIV-based pseudovirus system to generate historically significant and currently circulating H1N1 and H5N1 pseudotypes for flu diagnosistics. Produced viruses are concentrated and used for neutralization assays against mice serum (virus/ vaccine injected) to understand antigenic breadth and to monitor cross-protectivity. Using pseudoviruses, I also perform mammalian surface display of the influenza hemagglutinin protein to identify antibody binding affinity. By testing multiple strains and multiple serum, I am able to perform antigenic mapping and surveillance.
