Research summary
Bruton’s tyrosine kinase and the microbiome in autoimmune disease pathogenesis
The role of the microbiome in autoimmune disease pathogenesis is poorly understood. In Peggy Kendall’s lab, I investigate B cell signaling protein Bruton’s tyrosine kinase and the gut microbiome in autoimmune disease models including type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. This project will advance our understanding of how the immune system and gut microbiota interact and shed light on factors that influence autoimmune disease pathogenesis.
