Research summary
I study the potential mechanisms by which depression contributes to cognitive decline in an aging population.

I work with Dr. Bijsterbosch to better understand the mechanism by which depression increases risk for developing cognitive decline and later Alzheimer’s disease as an individual ages. I use large imaging and phenotypic data sets such as the UK biobank to model potential mechanisms. My primary hypothesis concerns the synergistic role inflammation may play in accelerating the progression of the disease.

I also work on identifying subtypes within the aging population that are delineated by cognitive ability and affective symptoms.
