Research summary
CRISPR Screening to Improve Stem Cell-Derived Pancreatic Beta Cells

I work in the lab of Dr. Jeffrey Millman, which has been primarily interested in the optimization of stem cell-derived pancreatic beta (SC-beta) cell production for differentiation efficiency, SC-beta cell efficacy and maturation. To support this, my project focuses on using CRISPR technology to perform screens and investigate potential targets to address current problems impeding the clinical translation of SC-beta cells. Further interrogation of potential targets may include single cell RNA sequencing experiments, glucose-stimulated insulin-secretion assays, and other experiments to examine cell identity and function.
