Research summary
Automated identification of the somato-cognitive action network in individuals

The somato-cognitive action network (SCAN) of the human motor cortex subserves the integration of physiology, movement, and behavioral goals, and its functionally connected regions in the subcortex are linked with neuromodulatory targets for the treatment of conditions such as epilepsy, chronic pain, and Parkinson’s disease. I aim to develop an automated system that utilizes resting-state functional MRI scans to define individual-specific SCAN regions, which will be used to identify optimal targets for clinical neuromodulation and to further characterize the network’s connectivity profile across the brain.
