Research summary
Cortical synaptic, neural, and circuit mechanisms underlying auditory (hearing) deficits in neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders, including noise-induced hearing loss, hyperacusis, and autism. We employ a multidisciplinary approach including, in vivo two-photon microscopy in awake mice, auditory behavioral assays, ex vivo brain-slice imaging and electrophysiology, chemogenetic and optogenetic circuit manipulation, inducible conditional knockout models, and pharmacological interventions.
